Boost Your GPA
How do we improve our GPA after applying?
If, after doing your absolute best during your undergrad, you still find your GPA lower than you would like, here are a few tips!
-Retake classes: When retaking classes at the same institution, you can, at best, have your new grade replace the old one, and at worst, show the optometry schools that you are disciplined enough to fight through adversity.
-Community College: Not all of your GPA has to come from one transcript. Community college is cheaper, and more accessible that normal universities, and so it is a good alternative for needing to retake certain classes to boost your GPA on the side.
-Master's Program: If you need to improve your GPA, you could enroll in a one or two year master's program in the applied sciences. Some schools have masters in vision science, biomedical science and others that you could take while trying to apply to optometry school. The two extra benefits of this are; 1. you get a graduate level GPA, meaning that this new GPA will more accurately portray how you will preform in optometry school and 2. you will get some extra letters after your name (usually MS), which will beef up your application
